November 2007
Norm
and his writing partner, Allison Graham, created an idea for a
television show and wrote the pilot episode. It is an amusing,
unique, and unconventional dramatic comedy entitled Assuming The
Worst. SYNOPSIS... This series revolves around Morley,
a rather quiet and highly intelligent 24-year old, who has the
ability to shape-shift. As a child Morley, discovered that he
could see the exact method and time of a person's unexpected death
simply by brushing up against them. Over the years, he has
learned that he has the power to save people, by taking-on the form
of something he sees during the individual's last moments alive, and
by becoming that form, can alter the course of events. The
downside to his ability is that he assumes a physical or emotional
attribute of the form he takes, and upon transforming back into
himself, he maintains that attribute until his next shape-shifting
experience. That's the short-term price he pays for using his
ability. The long-term effect is that his body is aging faster
then normal because of the constant mutations. Morley owns a
record store in the city, which allows him the flexibility to take
time off to do his good deeds. He has a steady girlfriend,
Emily, who knows nothing about his gift, and he sometimes has to use
extreme measures to keep his secret from her, and hide any physical
or emotional defects that he incurs. In fact the only person
who is aware of his ability is Roxanna, his childhood best
friend. It is her in whom he confides absolutely everything,
even the people he chooses not to save... Morley's' dilemma: does he
continue to use his unique talents to rescue others, at the risk of
shortening his own life? Currently Norm and Allison are in the
process of plotting out the first season, as well as shopping it
around to production companies.
